2008 Estate Cabernet, Knights Valley
I LOVE 2008! While it was a challenging spring in the vineyard with the most late-frost days since 1973 (28 to be exact), the reduced crop made for powerful wines with great expression. While 2007 compares to 2001, 2008 wines have a lot in common with 2002.
Vineyard: Knights Valley Estate
Appellation: KV
Composition: CS 76%, ML 14%, CF 10%
Case Production: 350
Barrel Aged: 22 mo
Harvested: Sept 5+9, 2008
Release Date: April 2011
Tasting Notes:
The nose features creamy blackberry, crushed rock, hint of anise, graphite, clove, and cigar box. On the palate the wine is powerful, complex, loaded with black fruit, gutsy tannins (that will benefit from 6-10 years of aging), and a 30+ seconds finish. A true expression of mountain Cab!
