GERHARD REISACHER, Winemaker & Proprietor

Gerhard Reisacher, Winemaker and Proprietor, has history on his side. As an eighth-generation winemaker from Austria, Gerhard grew up in vineyards and worked by his father Karl's side, gaining a strong interest and passion for viticulture and winemaking. Soon, Gerhard was studying at Austria's premier winemaking college, graduating with four degrees, including winemaking and viticulture.

Gerhard became intrigued by the potential of the Napa Valley after tasting countless California wines, recognizing they were completely unlike their European counterparts. That is all it took to convince Gerhard to pack his bags and move to California.

Gerhard's dream to establish his own wine brand ultimately culminated in Delectus Winery, which he started with his wife Linda in 1995. Gerhard's winemaking ability has proven very rewarding for the Reisacher Family and wine enthusiasts. Many experts, including Wine Spectator, have given Delectus wines high praise. When Gerhard is not in the cellar reviewing the progress of their next releases, he can be found on the winery's new property clearing brush or scouting new vineyard sites.

LINDA REISACHER, Proprietor

Linda started her career in the wine industry as a sales executive for California Glass, a leading supplier of wine bottles and other containers. This experience helped introduce her to the wine industry and paved the foundation and business acumen that would later prove helpful at Delectus Winery. It was during this time that a friend introduced her to Gerhard, jump-starting a lifetime filled with love and a passion for producing stellar wines. During Linda's first overseas trip with Gerhard, they saw Michelangelo's David, which provided the initial spark for the Delectus wine label.

Linda wears many hats at Delectus Winery. She manages the winery's marketing and overall business operations including managing the Wine Club, hosting special events and private tastings with trade representatives, consumers, and media. When Linda is not at the winery, you will find her playing with their daughter Julia or chasing their dogs Splash and Fannie Mae across their new vineyard property.

JULIA, Daughter and Inspiration

What can you say about Julia that most Delectus Winery's friends and customers don't already know? She is the precocious daughter of Gerhard and Linda and the inspiration for the winery's crown jewel and most acclaimed wine, Cuvee Julia. This wine not only represents their love for their daughter, but also showcases the very best that Delectus has to offer. With each new vintage, the label offers a peek into Julia's life. The label for the current 2004 vintage shows one of Julia's artistic Kindergarten projects - the U.S. flag as seen through the eyes of a five-year old girl.
