In our pursuit of producing only the best, there are, inevitably, batches of wine and portions of barrels that just don't make it past Gerhard's highly discriminating judgment. Our Argentum has become a staple at several high-end restaurants' by-the-glass program, and continues to be enjoyed by consumers looking for a solid wine at an immense value.
2005 Argentum $22
Our customers are quickly figuring out why so many restaurants are jumping to get Argentum: How else can you find a Delectus wine at such a price! Made of bits and pieces of all our front-line wines (yes, there is Sacrashe in it, too!!) and various press wines, it is once again a Cab-driven blend that is accentuated by Merlot, Petite Sirah, and Syrah. The official release date is October 15, and it typically sells out by February. If you are looking for a "guilt-free" wine that does not require guests or a special occasion, this is your wine. Order by the case before it's gone.
Tasting Notes
Initial aromas of tobacco leaf and graphite are followed by hints of clove and molasses. This wine is still very young and vivacious with supple tannins and a pleasant finish. (10/07)
