Notes
This vineyard lies just south of the Oakville Crossroad next to Highway 29, with just enough pebbles in the soil to turn the site favorable for Cabernet Sauvignon. Although we no longer vineyard designate our Oakville source, the 2003 Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon is our third version from this vineyard.
The 2003 is stylistically similar to its predecessor, 2002 Oakville Cab, but rounder on the palate with more intense layers of fruit. The Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon was the last vineyard to be picked in 2003 (coming in on October 27th!) and that long hang time has given this wine an incredible complexity that will leave you begging for more.
2003 Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville $60
Tasting Notes
A tantalizing and elevated nose expresses aromas of cinnamon, nutmeg, dustiness, cayenne pepper, huckleberry, fresh tree bark, rosehip, and blood orange pulp. The mouth has a rolling body, the core is refined and firm, and tannins are soft and elegant. An extremely long mouth-feel with a lingering and satisfying finish. What a pleasure! (03/08)

93 Pts – Connoisseur's Guide
"The hits just keep on coming from this talented winery. Outgoing
black cherry aromas tinged with loamy richness, a bit of smoke and briar
and roasted vanilla bean notes find their exacting parallel in the wine's
deep and rich flavors. Nominally tannic and sure to cellar superbly over
the next half decade and more, this stunning effort mixes delicious flesh
with ageworthy brawn, and while it can be enjoyed now with savory meats,
it deserves a bit of bottle age." (April 2005)
