PETITE SIRAH

The vines in this amazing vineyard were planted in 1911 (the oldest PS vineyard in the Napa Valley) high up on Spring Mountain, west of St. Helena. We were offered three separate blocks in May 2000, and that first vintage catapulted itself to become the top rated Petite Sirah in Wine Spectator (2003). Since then, our increasing knowledge of this vineyard has produced more refined and complex wines that have turned heads and won hearts.

2005 Petite Sirah $55

2005 was a marvelous year for wine in the Napa Valley: extremely long hang time paired with consistent temperatures during the growing season resulted in an unbelievably beautiful and luscious Petite Sirah that we couldn’t wait to share with you. We’ve always said that our Petite Sirah is not for the fainthearted, and this vintage is the epitome of that statement. This wine is still very young and will benefit from some aging. Our 2005 Petite Sirah was released on April 15th and only 375 cases were produced… Be among the first to get your hands on some!

Tasting Notes
Vivacious aromas of marionberries, white pepper, burnt caramel, teriyaki beef jerky, black olives and French Vanilla ice cream. The mouth is powerful and exuberant, full of cloves, coffee beans, mouth-coating tannins and a bit of minerality. The rolling finish is lengthy and satisfying. (GR, 4/08)

2003 Petite Sirah
Tasting Notes
Aromas of ripe blackberries are complemented by intriguing scents of stone, graphite, and minerals. In the mouth it's all dark chocolate (at least 80%), espresso grounds, dark cigar wrapper, and a fairly tannic finish. Are you sitting down?  (GR)

2002 Petite Sirah
89 Pts – Wine Spectator
"Supple and harmonious for Petite, with red plum, wild berry and boysenberry flavors that are rich, tight and concentrated, riding on a tightly focused beam. The tannins grab on and hold on, giving it detail and structure. Decant. Best from 2007 through 2012. 400 cases made." –JL  (February 2006)

2001 Petite Sirah
90+ - Robert Parker
"This unfined/unfiltered Petite Sirah exhibits an inky/purple color along with a tightly knit but promising nose of white flowers, black fruits, graphite and earth. Thick and monolithic as well as beautifully pure, rich, and impressively endowed, it requires another 5-6 years of cellaring, and should age well for 15+."
